Facebook Inc Expected to Bite Google’s Mobile Ad Market Share in 2014


The global ad mobile ad spending could increase by as much as 75.15 to $31.45 billion this year, according to e-Marketer, an independent market research firm providing insights and trends in digital marketing, media and commerce.

eMarketer said mobile represents almost 25% of the total global digital ad spending this year. Last year, the mobile ad spending was $17.97 billion worldwide, an increase 105%from the previous year. By 2018, the research firm projected that mobile ad spending will go up to as much as $94.91 billion.

According the research firm, Google Inc will continue to capture the largest market share in mobile ad spending with an estimated 46.8% this year, but that is down from its 49.3% market share in 2013.

Facebook Inc is obviously growing rapidly in mobile advertising given the fact that its market share was only 5.4% in 2012, and spiked to 17.5% last year. eMarketer estimated that the social network giants market share will grow by another 4.2% to 21.7%, and suggested that its gains come from Google Inc’s market share.

eMarketer projected that mobile will represent  63.4% of the net digital ad revenues of Facebook Inc. On the other hand, mobile is expected to account 33.8% of the net ad revenues of Google Inc this year.
